The game begins with you as as part of an SAS squad going from house to house in the Russian countryside killing terrorists in a very linear fashion and while this mission type is repeated a few times in the game and are the worst missions, but the developers try to switch up the feeling of the missions by cutting to the USMC fighting in the Middle East in chaotic mazes of alleys and tall buildings in a urban area where the enemy fires from every damn side in levels which just feel chaotic and claustrophobic in the best possible way. This brings us to what I think is the best part of the game, the level design.

What this does it that it allows you to get a fuller experience of the story by participating in it from several different angles, for instance a pair of missions has you first escape a bunch of Russian nationalists after being shot down in a standard shoot em up level but then switches over to have you play as a gunner in an airplane providing supporting fire to help said SAS team escape.

Instead of following one character throughout or going through a series of campaigns with different characters like earlier CoD games, there is a single narrative but it has you play as different characters throughout the campaign, mostly the British SAS guy Soap, but also several other soldiers in the SAS and the USMC. The substance of the plot is mostly knock off Tom Clancy geopolitical thriller stuff, but it does something pretty interesting in the way it is told. The campaign takes place over the course of about a week and has you playing as several characters mainly as an SAS recruit hunting down a Russian ultranationalist terrorist who plans to undermine the West through nuclear weapons and intrigues in the Middle East. But I bought a bunch of the CoD games for cheap a while back and thought I might give it a try.ДЄfter beating the single player campaign over the course of three days, I have come to the conclusion that the game was decent but not great.
